After about four weeks of fighting in Ukraine, the NATO Secretary General has warned that the war in Ukraine could continue for years. Mr Stoltenberg said: “No one knows how long the war will last.” Meanwhile, a report by the British Ministry of Defense announces the possibility of declining morale of the Russian and Ukrainian military forces.
The NATO Secretary General has warned that the war in Ukraine could continue for years and demanded that arms supplies to Kiev continue, even if “the costs will be high,” he said.
In an interview published Sunday in the German weekly magazine Bild, Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said “no one knows” how long the war could last.
“We have to prepare for the war to last for years. “We should not give up Ukraine’s support even if the costs are high, not only in relation to military support, but also because of rising energy and food prices.”
After four months of fierce fighting in Ukraine, British defense officials say the morale of both Russian and Ukrainian soldiers is declining.
According to a report by the British Ministry of Defense, Russian soldiers are refusing orders, and there have been cases of violent clashes between officers.
Meanwhile Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after a visit to Mykolaiv and Odessa along the Black Sea, said that the Ukrainian army will continue to defend the south of the country.
“We will not give the south to anyone, we will return everything that is ours and the sea will be Ukrainian and safe,” Zelenskyy said.
“The losses are significant. “Many houses have been destroyed, everything has been destroyed, but we will rebuild everything that was destroyed,” he added.
The eastern industrial city of Sievierodonetsk, a key target in the Moscow offensive to seize full control of Luhansk, one of the two provinces that make up Donbas, was bombarded with heavy artillery and missiles, the Ukrainian military announced.
Analysts at the Washington-based Institute for War Studies write that “Russian forces are likely to be able to capture Sievierodonetsk in the coming weeks, but at the cost of concentrating most of their available forces in this small area.” ”.
Serhiy Gaidai, the governor of Luhansk said all Russian claims that they control the city are a lie. “They control the main part of the city, but not the whole city,” he said.
In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, northwest of Luhansk, the Russian Defense Ministry said its Iskander missiles had destroyed weapons depots.
Heavy weapons supplied by the West are reaching the front lines in Ukraine. But the leaders of this country continue to insist on more weapons and as soon as possible./REL
