Greek authorities have declared 18 high-risk areas across the country by announcing stricter measures to deal with the pandemic, while in the last 24 hours more cases of affected, victims and intubated have been registered. Among these areas are Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Lefkada, Fthiotida, Corinth, Thesprotia, Arta, Viotia and some islands.
The measures that enter into force immediately, except for the city of Larissa where they will start on Saturday due to the earthquake, will be valid until March 16. The Deputy Minister of Civil Defense and Emergencies in a press conference after the urgent meeting of the pandemic commission has announced strict changes in the way citizens move.
In the six reasons to move out of the house across the country there will be changes in codes 2 and 6 with sms messages. For code 2 that he sends when he goes to supermarkets and shops for urgent goods, but also for code 3 when he goes to banks or public services, the movement will be done only within the respective municipality or up to two kilometers from the place of residence. For code 6, bodybuilding, the movement will only be done on foot or by bike and no one can go to another area.
Police hours also change. In the red areas movement will not be allowed from 21:00 to 5 in the morning. In high-risk areas, the curfew will start at 7 pm, excluding only Attica and Thessaloniki, where on weekdays the curfew will be back to normal.
During Wednesday across the country there were 2702 new cases with Covid-19 of which 1,269 in Attica, 314 in Thessaloniki and 178 in Ahaia in the Peloponnese.
Also 40 people lost their lives and intubators went to 431 causing an alarm situation to the health authorities as in the hospitals of Athens the situation has already gone beyond the limits they can afford.
