The Criminal Court has ruled on the “Monsters” case, where Alil Demiri, Afrim Ismailovic, Agim Ismailovic are sentenced to life imprisonment. Haki Aziri with 9 years in prison while Fejzi Aziri with 15 years in prison.
Sami Luta has been acquitted. Following the decision, at the request of the representative of the Prosecution, Fatime Fetai, the Criminal Court decided to detain the four convicts. Recall that Alil Demiri, Agim Ismailovic are on the run.
The “Monster” case is related to the five-time murder in Smillkova Lake that took place in April 2012 and for this crime some of the six accused were sentenced to life imprisonment and some to the maximum sentence.
The “Monster” case was returned for retrial at the end of 2017, preceded by the wiretapping scandal in 2015 by the then leader of the Macedonian opposition, Zoran Zaev, who had stated that there was evidence that the accused in this case could be innocent. But now Zaev has stated that he has never said that other persons have committed the act, or that they are innocent and that in this case the judiciary has the last word.
