The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, received today the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kosovo, dr. Rifat Latifi, in the framework of strengthening cooperation in the field of public health, exchange of medical staff and treatment of morbidity, with the aim of increasing the quality of health care on both sides of the border.
In her speech, Minister Manastirliu shared some of the points of cooperation, which have begun to be implemented, but which require their further intensification.
“We aim to strengthen the capacities and exchange common experiences, regarding the two mutual Institutes of Public Health, of controls and inspections on both sides of the border, to ensure that the citizens who enter the border point, are all vaccinated and have those measures which are defined in the regulations of both countries “said Manastirliu.
Another point that Manastirliu considered important during the conversation with his counterpart from Kosovo was the cooperation in the field of telemedicine.
“I believe that even in the context of exchanging information, in the context of increasing relations in terms of experiences related to clinical research, joint projects, joint articles for specific, difficult cases, we want to show them not only within us , but also outside our borders. We will have to use these digital instruments at our disposal to enable closer proximity to each other, more information speed and of course an information channel which ensures that everything that is transmitted is stored, as it must also be certified with all the parameters “, said Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu said that the cooperation between the two Neurology services of the two countries will be strengthened, thus opening a new era of the creation of joint centers of excellence, here and there on the border.
“I would like to share with you another initiative in the framework of bilateral cooperation that we will take very soon together, which is exactly the cooperation between the two University Clinics of Neurosurgery, as centers of excellence, for high level services.” informed Manastirliu.
One of the points of discussion during the conversation between the two ministers of health of the two countries, was the creation of a new instrument, such as clinical audit, which aims to increase the quality of service to citizens, through quality control.
“We are building an important instrument, the clinical audit instrument in Albania. The law on health care services involves us in creating this new clinical audit mechanism. We are opening a call for health professionals to apply, to become clinical auditors and to ensure that medical protocols are carried out as they are approved and of course with the aim of increasing the quality of service. We will also make this public call for Kosovo, for Kosovo doctors, so it goes beyond the borders by inviting professionals in Kosovo, but also professionals in Tetovo in northern Macedonia “, said Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health of Kosovo, Dr. In his speech, Rifat Latifi emphasized the unification of common health protocols and that the cooperation be at many levels.
“Cooperation can be at many levels and one of them is to have relevant laws in line with the EU, in the field of Health; establishing excellent clinical and scientific centers to compete for US and EU projects together; creating a common platform for the post-graduate education of our doctors. I also think that we need a working group that maintains and monitors all these points “, said Latifi.
The meeting between the two delegations of the Ministries of Health of Albania and Kosovo comes in the framework of the implementation of the joint agreement between the two countries, which aims to deepen cooperation in the field of health.
During the visit to Tirana, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kosovo Rifat Latifi also visited the New Pediatric Hospital of QSUT and the Telemedicine Center, where together with Minister Manastirliu stressed the need to strengthen digital exchange, to maximize resources and to increase the quality of medical service for citizens.
