Dozens of hectares of corn in the village of Sektor Seman, Fier, are in danger of drying up.
The cause, according to farmers, is the lack of irrigation water. The Vjose Levan Fier canal is full of water, but it does not reach the farmers’ fields.
Gathered in the village square, farmers have protested against this situation that endangers their production of tens and tens of hectares of corn.
According to them, water is not lacking in the main canal that comes from the Vjose River, but in its course have been placed numerous dams, by irresponsible people, according to them, which have made that in the village of Sektor Seman, not enough water reaches to be towed with electric pumps in corn fields.
Sources close to the Topojë Fier Administrative Unit, stated that they were not aware of such a situation, but due to this protest of the farmers, starting today they will exercise immediate control over the entire irrigation canal and will increase the amount of water to come to the level necessary for irrigation.
