According to recent research on what attracts the opposite sex the most, physical appearance does not play a decisive role
In a study published last month in The Journal of the Acoustic Society of America, researchers gave respondents various vocal exercises, and then specific groups of people listened to the recordings and ranked them by attractiveness. .
– We have come to the conclusion that the clarity with which we speak greatly affects whether someone will like us or not, says one of the authors of the study, Dr. Sarah Hargus Ferguson.
– With this research, we came to the conclusion that we are actually more attractive to others the less clearly we speak, ie if we are more ambiguous in what we say.
The team of scientists involved in the research believes that these results show the so-called “sexual dimorphism”, ie the appearance when a characteristic difference, in this case vague speech or murmuring, makes us more attractive. According to them, the reason for this is that our brain perceives the murmur of the other side as an evolutionary quality.
“Although every speech therapist will teach children and people to speak slowly and pronounce every word carefully, it seems that our voice is more appealing when it is unclear,” said study co-author Dr. Daniel Ster from the University of California.
The results also showed that vague speech is more interesting and appealing to both sexes, and they believe the reason is that the male brain, again for evolutionary reasons, perceives it as “more feminine”.
