Wide security presence was seen today outside the Pakistani parliament where Imran Khan faces the dangerous vote whether or not he will stay in office.
The prime minister said yesterday that he accepted the high court decision that could remove him from power, saying that he was the victim of a US conspiracy for “regime change”.
The prime minister-elect in 2018 is expected to lose the vote after abandoning a coalition member and several members of his party.
The court ruling came Thursday when Khan dissolved parliament and called new elections because of “foreign interference”.
In a 40-minute speech Khan denounced the Muslim League of Pakistan and the People’s Party which although historically in conflict, this time joined together to oust Khan’s party.
With the loss of the majority, Khan accused the opposition of buying support in the assembly with “open bargains… by trading MPs like goats and sheep”.
He said they were working with Washington to remove him from office over his opposition to US foreign policy, especially in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
