There are people whose blood lacks factor 8. This factor is an element of blood which helps us to clot it when we break our hand, have bleeding or have an accident.
But these people who are born without factor 8 in the blood, even when not injured, experience bleeding in the joints, in the joints, which makes it impossible for them to move.
They are called people with hemophilia and for years have been seeking to be provided with factor 8 in sufficient quantities, in order to receive regular medication and not just when the bleeding or pain started.
Through blood transfusions these patients need to compensate for factor 8 in the blood. But in Albania, only 50 children regularly receive it. 200 patients between the ages of 18 and 60 only receive it when the pain starts at best when they are from Tirana, those from the districts have to travel to the national Hemophilia center.
This amount of factor 8 that is currently provided is a donation from the Italian government.
Providing factor 8 as required by the medical protocol for these patients would enable a normal life.
