Polish President Andrzej Duda has given a message of strong support for Ukraine during the first personal speech of a foreign leader in parliament in Kiev since the beginning of the Russian occupation.
During his speech, Andrzej Duda thanked Ukraine for defending Europe against what he called “Russian imperialism.”
“The free world has the face of Ukraine,” he said. Duda said recent calls for Kiev to negotiate with President Putin, and even meet some of his demands, were troubling. “No decision about your future will be made without you,” he said.
Poland has been one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters, accepting millions of refugees fleeing fighting and sending tanks and rocket launchers to the Ukrainian army.
Duda, who received constant applause after his speech, said Poland would do everything it could to help Ukraine join the European Union.
