Rigels Xhemollari: Almost 42% of citizens have personal experiences of corruption. About 13% know corruption from conversations with friends and family. And about 40% perceive corruption by the mismatch between the standard that public officials have between their salary and their lives.
Political parties occupy the first place in terms of perception of corruption in institutions. About 83% of citizens think that the level of corruption is very high. A result that has surprised us, as political parties are not that they have big money in hand, but they have great opportunities, as MPs or the government has the opportunity to have big corrupt affairs in hand, or opportunities to be corrupted.
In second place is the Health Sector, followed by Public Administration, Police, Civil Society and Education.
As for public officials, the most corrupt are perceived Ministers, Judges and Prosecutors, Doctors, Tax and Customs Officers.
78% of citizens think that corruption has been increasing in the last 8 years and 62% think that corruption will continue to remain at these levels or will increase, so there is no hope and confidence, that the fight against corruption, strategies that are undertaken will be effective to reduce this phenomenon in our society.
