Pope Francis has rarely confessed that he likes classical music and tango.
The pope visited a record store last month, but as he confessed not to make purchases, but to give the blessing to the venture of his friends. However he said he loved the music.
“First of all, I did not go shopping. Those people have been my friends for years and reorganized the store. I went to give him the blessing. It was night, but a journalist was there and so the news became public. But it is true that I listen to music. “I like classical music, but also tango”, said Papa.
The 85-year-old, who likes tango, pointed out that “whoever does not dance tango is not a porteno”, a term that refers to the inhabitants of Buenos Aires in Spanish.
In the one-hour interview with RAI Channel 3, Francesco also mentioned some of his Pope’s key issues, condemning excessive spending on armaments, the ideological rigidity of conservatives in the Church, and defending the rights of immigrants.
The interview was conducted by satellite connection from the RAI studio in Milan with the modest residence of Santa Maria where the Pope lives in the Vatican. The 85-year-old has refused to stay in isolated apartments but with plenty of space in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, like his predecessors. This, as he says, is not a saint.
“One of the reasons I did not go to live in the papal’s apartment was because I am not a saint, like those who were there before me. I want to have human relationships and that’s why I live in this hotel in Santa Maria, where I can meet and talk to people or friends every day. This is an easier life for me. “I need friends, they are few, but they are real,” the Holy Father concluded.
He concludes his interview with a childhood memory.
“When I was a child I wanted to become a butcher, because when I went shopping with my mother and grandmother, I saw that everyone paid for the butcher. And when they asked me what I wanted to become when I grew up, I answered, ‘Butcher, because there is a lot of money, “the Pope confessed./Top Albania Radio /
