Pope Francis today joined the calls of all those seeking a ceasefire on the occasion of Orthodox Easter, which is an important holiday in both Russia and Ukraine.
Speaking to Catholic believers in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, Francesco again called for peace in Ukraine to alleviate the suffering of exhausted people.
“The fighting started two months ago, but instead of stopping, the war has worsened.”commented Francesco.
The UN and the Red Cross have also stepped up calls for a ceasefire.
