In Fiks, some pensioners from Luzi in Kavaja complained that they had not received their pensions for several months, after a former employee appropriated them.
The employee has passed away and hundreds of pensioners have been left between four streets, without any information whether or not they will receive their money.
Selman Didja, one of the pensioners, told Fiks that he had about 70 thousand lekë for his and his wife’s pension, which in the system appear to have been received, while in reality the Didja couple did not receive any lek.
“It is about the pension of December 2021 and January 2022 as well as the bonuses that we have not received. I went to the Albanian Post in Luz, Kavaja to withdraw my pension in December. An employee, named Lejla Lusha, told me that you will take them without worry. I fled to Italy and returned in February 2022. I went to the post office and that employee was not. I ask the other employees and they tell me that in the system it turns out that you got them. I tell them I did not get them and who made the notes. My and my wife’s pension, for these months, which go to around 700 thousand ALL, has been received by this employee. At that time I learned that the employee Lejla Lusha passed away. I was told he killed himself. I do not know anything more. I ask for my money, just like I do, there are hundreds of others in Luz and the village of Vorrozen. We have made reports to the police but so far nothing. “We demand only our right, nothing more.” says Selmani.
Fiksi, together with the pensioner are interested in the post office branch in Luz of Kavaja, where the latter withdraws the pension. The post office employee says that in the system like Selmani but also many others figure that they have received their pension, even the mandate that comes out of the computer is signed. He says that this problem has gone to the Post Office in Kavaja and that they will solve it, but so far he has not received any answer. When the Fiks journalist asks how many pensioners there are like Selmani, the employee says that there is no list of how many people they can be or a certain amount of how much has been unfairly appropriated to these pensioners. When asked who may have misappropriated this money, the employee spoke about his predecessor who threw this money in the system as received by pensioners.
“He even says that every pensioner has his signature in that register. “That employee, Lejla Lusha, has killed herself for these problems. The directorate in Kavaja and Tirana is now being taken over. I believe that a list can be issued with the emergency fund, but we do not have a list and we do not know where to go. “says the employee.
Fiks Fare became interested in the Post Office in Kavaja. Director Sonila Peza was not at work, as there was a meeting at the central directorate in Tirana. But in a phone call with her, she asks Fiks for an official request, as the case has been referred to the police and the prosecutor’s office and they are dealing with this.
