Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venedictova said her office was opening new cases of suspected war crimes by Russian forces, amounting to a total of 9,158 criminal cases.
“We have already identified specific war criminals. There are 15 people in the Kiev region for example, 10 of them in Bucha. We are holding those responsible for torture, rape and robbery accountable“, Said Venedictova.
Regarding the identification of the victims in Buça, the prosecutor announced that some bodies could not be identified, therefore DNA samples were collected.
Cases being worked on include the Kiev, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
Venedictova added that Ukraine was receiving international assistance in its ongoing investigations.
“Now we have a team of French experts and experts from Slovakia. We expect experts from Lithuania next Tuesday “she said.
