Residents in Morava, Kuçova, protested against state-sponsored compensation for agricultural land to be taken away due to the construction of a NATO air base in the area.
The project requires the properties of over 300 inhabitants, who have benefited from them with law 7501. The price set by the Albanian government is 203 ALL per square meter or 2 million ALL per dynym.
Residents have built solar houses or greenhouses, while many others have sold them. They consider the value set by the state as a mockery, so they addressed their problem to the Ministry of Defense.
The protesters also demanded a meeting with NATO representatives, to let them know that the value of the land should be higher if it is sold or rented to its owners.
Residents of Morava say they will continue their protests until Tirana.
