The Democratic Party on Monday accused the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) of not acting for the publication of sensitive data of over 630 thousand people, Albanian citizens and foreigners working in Albania.
DP Deputy Chairman Enkeled Alibeaj considered their publication this Monday as a serious event, and according to him, beyond the investigative secrecy, Albanians have the right to know what is happening in the meantime with this serious violation of the rights of their basic consequences, with serious consequences for the private and professional life of each of the injured parties.
In a statement to the media, Alibeaj said that the responsibility falls on SPAK, the institution that should have seriously investigated and until the end the scandal with personal data of citizens that the Socialist Party used through patronage for the April 25 elections.
“The government can not hide from responsibility for this major scandal. The idiotic appearances and jokes of Edi Rames can not forget the fact that the sensitive data of over 630 thousand Albanians are today in the hands of gangs and criminals“, He said.
According to him, bringing to justice the real perpetrators of the patronage scandal would be a sign of the seriousness of the investigation into one of the acts that marked one of the culminations of the April 25 election massacre.
“But when SPAK is silent, it is clear that political manipulators are not afraid to reach out and intervene where every Albanian has entrusted his personal data to the state. It is clear that the creators and implementers of the scheme of publishing personal data of Albanian citizens, both in the case of patronageists and in the case of a few days ago, is the corrupt dome of the state party, capable of using any means and tool in the function of personal interest“, Said Alibeaj.
The Vice President of the Democrats stressed that Albanian citizens, who are blackmailed, violated in their privacy and exposed to any wrongdoer, expect a strong and clear response from justice, because according to him, the lack of punishment for the perpetrators of the scandal of patronage workers, today is turning into a direct threat to the lives of over 630 thousand Albanians.
Salaries and ID numbers of thousands of citizens were published five days ago initially through the application “WhatsApp” to continue later in some online media.
Following the complaint of a group of citizens for the publication of personal data, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office started the verifications. The Prosecution formally requested verification from the Tax Directorate and the Insurance Institute for the issuance of official documents.
Names, surnames, identification numbers, institutions where they work and salaries were published in the link in word format that was distributed. The lists made public include state and private institutions, which also reflect the salaries of senior officials, including those of the State Intelligence Service.
The scandal of the release of personal data of salaries comes a few months after the leak of personal data of citizens on the eve of the elections of April 25, in the so-called patronage scandal.
