Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Moscow’s progress in Ukraine was going “according to plan” and ordered large-scale compensation for Russian soldiers killed in the occupation.
“The special military operation is going strictly according to plan. We are at war with the neo-Nazis. I will never give up my belief that Russians and Ukrainians are one people. “Our task now is to support the families of those who fought for the people of Russia.”
Russia on Wednesday for the first time published a number of its losses in Ukraine, saying 498 of its troops had been killed since Putin ordered the invasion last week.
Ukraine says that number is much higher.
