Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke today outside the “chorus” of Western leaders about the new variant of the coronavirus, saying that “its symptoms are so mild that it can function as a natural vaccine” and “consequently bring an end to of the pandemic ”.
“The Omicron variant may be a natural vaccine, but it is not fair to reach hasty conclusions,” the Kremlin leader said in an interview with Rbc.ru network
Some critics praised his sense of reality, in contrast to the Western governments’ media terror campaign for the new Omicron variant.
Other health experts have suggested that the new version may be less harmful than previously thought, which is why Putin compared it to a ‘vaccine in life’.
The president added: “According to the data collected so far, it does not seem as harmful as some experts thought, it could even be a natural vaccine that is approaching the end of the pandemic. “
This is not the first time that the term “natural vaccine” has been used in Russia in connection with the coronavirus, and Pyotr Chumakov, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and head of Engelhardt Laboratories, has raised the issue, causing a stir in academia.
In this regard, the Russian doctor Anatoly Altstein of the Gamaleya research center said that “this is an easier type of Covid and in many cases the disease can serve as a natural vaccine.”
The variant is in fact more contagious but with less severe consequences for the subjects.
