Prime Minister Edi Rama in an interview with VOA revealed details from the meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Blinken: What you have done to the Afghans is a great generosity, as I said and n3 the UN Security Council it is very good that you are here.
Rama: It is an honor to be here, we are meeting you on the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations, this is an expensive friendship for us, we will do our best to preserve it.
Rama for VOA: We discussed about the cooperation in the Security Council, bilateral relations, the region, reforms in Albania and in general we touched on all topics that are important to us, and that of the NATO alliance.
What role will Albania play in the Security Council?
Rama: This is a well-known process in the council, where two countries come together to address one or several specific files and the US proposed it to us, and we accepted it with great pleasure.
Will there be a resolution on Ukraine?
Rama: It is not an issue of Albania but of the whole world and we will definitely be side by side with the USA in this process and to be realistic the decision-making belongs to the USA.
Are there Albanians in Ukraine?
Rama: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken all measures and meanwhile we have some Albanians who are part of the OSCE monitoring mission that will continue to be there.
Why has the government not been more successful against corruption?
Rama: The presence of corruption is indisputable, but it is a war that has attacked it in the right way, we have launched justice reform, transformation of public services, the fight against corruption is a state building and will take time and patience.
