The new Pediatrics of QSUT was opened today, an investment of the Albanian government of European standards, part of the investments for the modernization of the largest hospital center in the country.
Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, present at this inauguration, said that this investment opens a new chapter for health care services for children at the national level.
“I want to dwell on the benefits that this new investment brings, which is not just a new building, this is really a project of modernization of the service for quality care of children, it is the finalization of the first phase of a project that is parable of our vision for the pediatric service we want. This new hospital holds three essential services, without which no hospital would be able to function: We have a new pediatric emergency service, with doubled capacity in an area of about 600 m2, spaces that make it easier to receive the service in a faster time for toddlers and their parents. We have dedicated areas at the entrance of the emergency, an emergency lane or fast-track, which offers immediate service for the most emergency cases and a special lane for routine emergency visits. The new resuscitation service, a unique structure at the national level, will already have doubled capacity with refurbished equipment and the infant surgery service, with four high-tech operating rooms, one of which will be dedicated to invasive interventions, which easily competes with any public and private structure and we are proud of that “, said Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health considered this, the beginning of an important chapter in the development of pediatric service for Health 2030, where she said that with the completion of this phase, we will start the second phase of rehabilitation of the existing building.
“Essentially this investment serves us as an orientation compass for the pediatric service throughout the country for the further development of our Health Strategy 2030, which is guided by the objective of providing universal health coverage, providing accessible, quality and close health services. residence. This is just the beginning of an important chapter in the development of pediatric care. With the completion of this phase, we will immediately start the second phase of rehabilitation of the existing building, unifying with the same standard as here and other services “, underlined Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health stated that other important projects will be finalized within this year for the further modernization of QSUT.
“We QSUT are in the middle of work, as we expect to finalize during this year the new Hospital of Internal Diseases, with a capacity of 350 beds and the rehabilitation of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, to raise to a new level the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases” , said Manastirliu.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed that QSUT will be turned into the most modern hospital complex, as modernization will continue in other services.
“According to the forecasts within this mandate, we conclude every part of QSUT that needs to enter this standard and QSUT returns to the largest and most modern hospital complex in the region, not Albania”, stressed the Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The new pediatric hospital that opened today at QSUT will offer conditions with European standards, including three services: Emergency, Resuscitation and Infant Surgery.
The emergency service is equipped with all equipment and an observation area with a capacity of up to 30 beds, with the possibility of expanding the reception capacity in case of influx. The new resuscitation service will already have dual capacity with refurbished equipment, with 28 ready-made outlets connected to medical gas systems and intensive care areas dedicated to neonates and older children. Resuscitation is also conceived with isolated areas for children being treated for infectious diseases and this is one of the novelties of the new resuscitation service. Also the new infant surgery service is with additional capacities. There are four high-tech operating rooms, one of which will be dedicated to invasive interventions.
The investment in the pediatric complex will continue with the rehabilitation of the existing building and in total for the two phases of the project, the value of funding is 15 million euros. The modernization of QSUT will continue with the new Hospital of Internal Diseases, which will be completed within this year and is expected to start soon the investment for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Infectious Hospital, another transformative investment that will serve to cope of health emergencies.
