Prime Minister Edi Rama has participated today in the inauguration of the reconstructed school in Kombinat “Lasgush Poradeci”. In his speech, Rama said that the new schools are already designed not only as facilities where students have the opportunity to receive knowledge, but also to serve the community.
According to him, students will have the opportunity to develop sports activities in their free time outside of school, as physical activity has become a concern for parents.
“We were in a difficult moment, when the world was turned upside down for thousands of families who lost their homes and for thousands of students who lost their schools and were forced to move to other destinations. If not all the vast majority of those hardest hit by the earthquake tragedy did not believe that things would soon change and that families would return to much nicer and stronger homes and students in schools that do not have compared to what they were before that blow.
We have much stronger reasons today than we had before the earthquake to believe in ourselves, our future. Here in Kombinat is one of the areas most affected by the earthquake and for 1000 reasons the number of families affected is more significant than in other areas of Tirana. This is the area where one of the largest reconstruction projects will be built.
The new neighborhood that will be built here will be the same as this school, in terms of the transformative impact of the lives of those families that were hit, but also of the whole life of the community. I want to guarantee everyone that not only have we not let a single day go in vain but we continue to work overtime together with the Municipality of Tirana to guarantee that the houses and all other units that will be built become a reality an hour ago.
We need to look far beyond the new infrastructure and that is why we will be very committed next year with the approved budget to break more and more funds and attention to the youngest each year and to transform schools into reconstructed spaces to receive knowledge, but also in spaces to be organized in the social, cultural, sports aspect. All these new spaces to be in the service of a new life at school and to fill the positive energy of that time from class to home, from the bench to the bed, to sleep and wake up the next day.
This is a concern for parents and students because there is no room for physical health. With a lot of attention and energy we will completely reverse this legacy of all these difficult years given the fact that we now have the opportunities. “In today’s conditions we can start this new phase for the school, the children, the communities in every school and near every school.” said Rama.
