Prime Minister Edi Rama held a press conference on the situation in Ukraine.
Rama: We note that last year, Ukraine held an exercise that was the largest ever conducted. We have positioned all the steps in the strategy followed in building the upper part of this relationship that has been better and before but has been on another level as well. We have turned Albania into a very nervous point of NATO military and bilateral relations, having in Albania already the American special command for Europe. You have noticed that we recently had in our waters the aircraft carrier which is a massive military airport in itself which means that we have no reason to worry whether or not we will have the capacity to defend ourselves. As for Serbia, of course it is a case for those who do not leave a chance without dealing with the Open Balkans to speculate again.
We did not have any lack of clarity on Serbia’s position from the point of view of its foreign policy when we started this process. We did not wait for Ukraine to be attacked by Russia to find out Serbia’s ties with Russia. What we are discussing today is quite important and for the further progress of the Open Balkans, it is an issue that awaits as we have many things to see in relation to how this process will develop. Today we are in a situation where from hour to hour, God forbid but we can see the Ukrainian leadership killed or taken hostage, we can see a country moving to another world completely controlled militarily while on the other hand there starting the imposition of sanctions we will have to look at the dynamics and how the EU will behave with other countries that are neutral or with two perspectives. We do not have to hurry.
