Parents of students of one of the schools rebuilt after the earthquake in the municipality of Durres have reacted today, as the school has not opened its doors even this year.
Today, a part of the parents of the village of Kullë in Durrës refused to send their children by bus to the host school in Rrushkull.
“In November we were told that the school would not be inaugurated. For the new year we were told that the school will open on January 5th. Today we are all waiting here and we took the bus empty. We have been waiting for this new and beautiful school for 2 years “.
“We are here for our children. We demand that the school be opened. The school is ready and we refuse to take the children to Rrushkull. The situation on the bus is catastrophic. If it is for 50 people, 150 people are included “.
“We were informed by phone that the children will go to Rrushkull again. They do not have the conditions there. “I do not know why they are silent.”
“At 18.30 my son comes home. I’m at the top of the hill. Do I come to save the baby? Should I go to Rrushkull, should I take the baby in the morning ?! What is so ?! ”
“There is no security for our children. We saw scenes with pistols and knives at the school in Rrushkull. “If our school does not open, there are no children in the school.”
“I am a graduate and since the school was demolished we have suffered this part.”“This is a school I graduated from because I worked here myself.”
“Why are they holding this school hostage, which is not being opened yet. We want them to give us an exact date. “
The joint high school “Ismet Nanushi” has 770 students and has a kindergarten, 9-year school and high school.
It is part of the schools that are being rebuilt under the EU4Schools program funded by the European Union. With the complete completion of the works, the municipality of Durrës is expected to take over the facility and the educational authorities to determine the opening day of the school.
