From May 1, the road that leads to Rinas has been made with a sense of movement in the direction from Qafë-Kashari-roundabout “Mother Teresa” -Ahmetaq.
This change was made to avoid delays towards the airport, due to the traffic created on this road by heavy car traffic.
Vehicles coming from the north in the direction of Rinas will follow the movement Fushë Krujë-Vora-Qafë Kashar.
Because of one-way traffic, some travelers have chosen to walk while pulling suitcases from behind.
Residents of the area did not welcome the decision, so they protested because for them this change of movement forces them to travel more kilometers to go to work or take their children to school.
The situation became tense when the Rapid Intervention Forces started to evacuate the residents to clear the road.
The Albanian Road Authority says that although the decision may bring some problems for the residents of the area, they are not without solutions, as they can use some alternative roads.
Evis Berberi, director of ARA: The segment from the roundabout in Ahmetaq has several alleys that are used by the community and can be used continuously, one of the cases is the mosque road.
This change of road movement leading to Rinas is temporary, as the final solution will come after the summer season is over.
Evis Berberi: The final solution, option is to create a new short road that passes somewhere between the former military unit of Rinas and to go directly to the airport. Within the summer season we will be done and this job.
To return from Rinas you can use the road from the village Ahmetaq-Fushë Krujë-Kamëz-Tirana or the road from the village Ahmetaq to continue to Vora and then to Tirana. On average, 10-14 km more kilometers will be covered.
