Rudina Hajdari has returned to active politics and is engaged in the difficult process of re-establishing the Democratic Party.
In an interview for “Top Talk”, Hajdari said that he will attend all events in the DP and will participate in meetings with Democrats to understand closely how the crisis in the largest opposition party can be resolved.
She now has a different attitude towards former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, against whom she has previously made strong accusations.
According to her, Berisha’s efforts to reunite the right and return to the top of the DP, she said that “in principle it is something right, but let’s see how it will work.”
“I was one of those who was against Mr. Berisha, I spoke against him in Parliament, I opposed the burning of mandates. And for this I have been very clear, that I will always be principled and so I will continue to be”.
He who thinks that after March 6, Berisha is not a factor within the Democratic Party, is wrong, says Hajdari.
“We need to understand that he has a role, he is supported and he continues to be supported. The issue is how to accommodate us within the group and be part of the work for the re-establishment of the Democratic Party, this is the main goal. We have to admit that it is a factor within the Democratic Party, but the membership, the Democrats, at the moment must understand that the support for Berisha was after Basha’s defeat. They supported Berisha because they were disappointed. But now we have to go beyond that, we have to see how to get back to power. We must appeal beyond the membership, even beyond the Democrats, to the gray electorate, but also to the disappointed socialists who have left Edi Rama”.
Hajdari indicates that he will participate in the April 30 assembly, convened by Berisha.
“I agree and I will attend the April 30, congress of the Democratic Party Congress. I will be a part and ask to speak.
If there is another congress I will go to him too. I will be where the Democrats are, I will speak and communicate with them. I did not come here to become a fan of Mr. Berisha or Mr. Basha. I have come to make my contribution, I do not pretend to do miracles”.
But, will Rudina Hajdari run for the leadership of the Democratic Party?
I do not aspire to such a thing, she answers, adding that besides Lulzim Basha and Sali Berisha, there are other people who can lead the Democratic Party.
“I think so,” he said. Those who feel at the right height to be president tomorrow, should express this desire and unveil their platforms. When I hear what they have to do, I will support what I think is fairer”.
