The head of Luhansk regional military administration, Serhii Haidai, said Russian forces had hit a railway overpass near Barvinkov, blocking an evacuation route for civilians from eastern Ukraine.
“The enemy struck an overpass near the Barvinkove station, the Donetsk railway, with an air strike. Nearly 500 evacuees from the Luhansk region were stranded at a train station“, Said Haidai.
According to Haidai three evacuation trains were temporarily blocked in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, both in the Donetsk region.
Ukrainian authorities have reported heavy bombardment in the Donbas area, but so far have not provided details about the consequences of the attacks.
As the bombing continues the Ukrainians are sheltered at the train station until the situation calms down.
