Russia has urged Ukrainian troops housed at the Severodonetsk nitrogen chemical plant to lay down their arms by 8 a.m. Wednesday, as this would be a chance for them to surrender.
The fighters were asked to stop their resistance and hand over their weapons at that moment set by Russia.
Ukraine on the other hand has indicated that its troops are still stationed in Severodonetsk, after the last bridge between the city and the territory held by Ukraine was destroyed by Russian forces.
Earlier, it was reported Russia had offered to set up a humanitarian corridor on Wednesday to evacuate civilians trapped in the chemical plant.
