Russia seems increasingly outraged by the failures on the ground, and it seems that is why it pushed Moscow to use the new Kinzhal hypersonic missiles for the first time in Ukraine, destroying a weapons depot west of the country.
The Russian Defense Ministry described as a success the fact that the Kinzhal aviation missile system with hypersonic aerobatic missiles destroyed a large underground depot where aviation missiles and ammunition were stored in the village of Deliatin in the Ivano-Frankivs region.
Russia’s state news agency Ria Novosti said this was the first time Kinzhal hypersonic weapons had been used in what Moscow called a “special military operation” in Ukraine. Earlier, Moscow had never admitted to using hypersonic missiles during the fighting.
These missiles can fly very high in the atmosphere at five times the speed of sound. According to the Russian military, the Kinzhal missile system used in the attack is capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 2,000 kilometers and can evade existing systems. of air and missile defense. But while Russia has sought to emerge as a military superpower, its attack on Ukraine has exposed major shortcomings.
Analyzing the Russian military vehicles destroyed in Ukraine, American experts say that a good part of them were obsolete. New equipment, new ideas for war, a much more professional and battle-ready force: this is how the Russian army appeared before the attack on Ukraine.
But while it should have had a very large advantage over the neighboring country’s military forces from the beginning, this did not happen, and today everyone is wondering what happened to the Russian military superpower.
