A rocket hit a shopping mall in the town of Kremenchuk in Ukraine’s Poltava region at noon on Monday, June 27.
Scattered footage from the scene shows that the building was completely burnt down, while the mayor of the city, Vitaliy Meletskiy, wrote in a Facebook post that the rocket hit while the center was crowded.
“The rocket attack on Kremenchuk came in a crowded place, which is 100% irrelevant to the fighting. There are dead and injured, “Maletsky wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the mayor, details will be provided by the Poltava Regional Military Administration later.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later announced that the rocket had hit a shopping mall and posted a video of the strike on his Telegram.
“The occupiers have hit a shopping mall with over a thousand civilians inside. The mall posed no threat to the Russian military and posed no strategic value to them. The center is on fire and rescue crews are trying to put out the fire. The number of victims is impossible to imagine. Out of helplessness, Russia continues to strike at ordinary people. “It is useless to expect them to be reasonable or humane,” the Ukrainian president wrote.
Earlier, Poltava military chief Dmitry Lunin said Russian troops fired on Kremenchuk. Explosions were also heard in Poltava, but there is no information on rocket fire.
On June 18, eight rockets were fired at Kremenchuk. No one was injured in the bombing.
