The Tass news agency reported yesterday that the Russian Black Sea Fleet had deployed a remotely controlled underwater robot to track down unauthorized naval vessels to “protect the Novorossiysk Bay against saboteurs.”
The warship inspected the submerged parts of submarines or the seabed to detect signs of enemy activity.
Officials said the maneuvers were carried out despite difficult weather conditions and rough sea.
The Russian navy said its anti-sabotage squads “protect ships and submarines from the reconnaissance or subversive force.”
According to them, the anti-sabotage naval squads are equipped with Grachyonok and Raptor class speedboats, advanced diving equipment, sonar, and special weapons for battle on land and underwater.
The Marlin-350 unmanned submarine was created to detect submarines in breakdown and other objects in coastal waters for their examination.
