The left in the country has been shaken by recent events where MPs and former MPs have ended up behind bars or been punished by the US, after finding evidence of corruption and abuse of office.
Former Minister of Defense Lefter Koka and former MP Alqi Bllako are today behind bars for incinerators, while the US Treasury Department announced this Monday economic sanctions against former MP Aqif Rakipi.
Under such conditions, the opposition could seize the opportunity to gain the support of public opinion, says analyst Roland Lami in “Top Story”. But the opposition itself is in deep crisis, he adds.
“These individuals are part of a rotten system within the SP. But the opposition is in trouble today and public opinion is in crisis”.
