A new satellite video taken by CNN allegedly reveals that North Korea has taken steps to hide a structure that the US intelligence service believes serves as a repository for nuclear weapons.
The images could force critics of the administration of US President Joe Biden, who, in their opinion, should define a clear strategy on how to deal with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, CNN reports.
The satellite image was taken on February 11 and was analyzed by experts from the Middlebury Institute in the state of Vernmont.
Experts say North Korea built new structures at Yongdoktong in 2020, and researchers say it was done with the intention of hiding entrances to tunnels leading to the nuclear weapons depot.
“The photos show two tunnel entrances in 2019 and a new building on that site in 2021,” said Jeffrey Lewis, a Middlebury professor of international studies and an intelligence specialist.
Yongdoktong had previously been listed by the US intelligence service as a place where nuclear weapons are stored and is believed to still be used for that purpose, a US intelligence officer told CNN on condition of anonymity.
