The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the region of Tirana, Nikolin Jaka has raised concerns about increasing imports of agricultural products from Serbia to our country.
In an interview for the show “Top Talk”, Jaka said that imported products from Serbia have increased from year to year, hindering the sale of domestic products.
“Figures are stubborn and draw on such results. Only in 2021, Serbia already occupies in the Albanian market 28% of dairy products imported to Albania, which means that Serbia has had an increase of three years, it has had 8% while today it is 21% and let’s see where will arrive in 2022”.
The chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Tirana region has accused the government of not reacting to the farmers’ requests:
“The dairy processing industry has been one of the biggest allies of farmers, which has demanded since the beginning of 2021 that the government revise the national subsidy scheme in agriculture and livestock. We have been constantly asking and so far we have not received any kind of confirmation.
Agriculture has been left in oblivion, no minimum subsidy has been included. We wanted to have simple schemes, equal to the countries of the region. We are not asking for anything more than Northern Macedonia and other countries.
There is a lack of in-depth analysis of expertise, there is a lack of will of experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, but also the government, to properly analyze national schemes and how the farm system in Albania can be standardized and formalized. Because everything is related to the livestock system, the dairy industry but also the consumer”.
