Aleksandar Vucic said his country would suspend exports of wheat, flour, corn and oil starting on March 10th.
“In the last two days, the export of wheat and flour has increased so much that we have to stop it,” Vucic told Serbian television B92. He clarified that the state will subsidize fuel for farmers.
“We will subsidize the price of Euro-oil in all fuel stations of the Serbian Oil Industry to remain at least 179 dinars, about 1.5 euros for at least a month and a half. For everyone else there will be minimal growth“, He said.
Vucic added that Serbia is awaiting the European Union’s decision to import energy from Russia. The United States banned it on Tuesday as punishment for Russia, which has invaded Ukraine.
“If the decision is to ban the import of all energy sources from Russia, then we too are in trouble. We have nowhere to get them, oil and gas can not fall from the sky“, Said Vuçic.
Speaking about the state of Serbia’s stock of goods, the clarification was that Serbia is prepared for at least the next two months.
Kosovo, during 2021, has imported 84 thousand tons of different types of wheat and flour from Serbia – from 115 thousand tons in total it has imported from different countries, such as: Croatia, Austria, Northern Macedonia, Hungary.
