Defense Ministry spokesman for Ukraine Oleksandr Motuzianyk stated today that intense fighting continues inside Severodonetsk, one of the last shelters for Ukraine in the Luhansk region and more widely, throughout the eastern Donbas of the country.
“High-intensity hostilities continue in Severodonetsk, where Ukrainian troops are fighting to repel Russia’s progress. “Russian forces already under the control of the city center are actively using artillery, multiple missile systems,” he said.
He said Russia’s advantage is their air power, so they are advancing, adding that Russia is losing troops in armed combat.
“As for the street fighting in Severodonetsk, Russian forces are trying to surround the Ukrainian troops, but the enemy is suffering significant losses in the infantry units of the Russian Guard and the Russian armed forces. “And they are only advancing using attack aircraft,” said Motuzianyk.
Earlier Monday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces said Russia had pushed Ukrainian forces out of the city center.
