The standard New York Stock Exchange S&P 500 strengthened at the start of the first trading day in 2022, with US stock markets likely to continue to recover from the pandemic in the new quarter.
The Dow Jones industrial average recorded a negligible loss of 16.71 points or 0.05 percent at the opening of trading, dropping to 36,321.59 points, reports Reuters.
The S&P 500 index rose 11.96 points, or 0.25 percent, to 4,778.14 points, while the Nasdaq Composite technology rose 87.53 points, or 0.56 percent, to 15,732.50 as soon as Wall Street announced the start of trading.
