Despite the heavy snowfall that started on Thursday, the Ministry of Infrastructure in Kosovo stated that all roads are passable.
Gëzim Osmani, Head of Road Maintenance at the Ministry of Infrastructure, told local media that according to information from the field from maintenance managers, the condition of roads in the country is good.
“All roads are open for traffic. “After the snowfall, the companies contracted by the ministry intervened in time to clear the snow and throw salt in order to guarantee the safety of passage at all times,” he said. Osmani further added that in the mountainous regions there was more rainfall, however with a little extra care, even there the situation is under control.
“Companies during the day will work to improve the condition of roads for safer vehicle traffic,” he said. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also announced which roads could not be crossed if the cars were not equipped with chains.
Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute announced that after sunny days and pleasant almost spring temperatures, the meteorological situation would change significantly, due to the presence of cold air masses of polar origin, with temperatures expected to drop to minus 7 degrees Celsius .
