Iranians today marked the second anniversary of the martyrdom of army commander Kasem Soleimani at the Grand Mosalla Mosque in Tehran.
President Ebrahim Raisi demanded revenge against former President Donald Trump if he is not tried for the order. “The aggressor and the main killer, the then former president, will face justice and revenge,” Raisi said in his speech.
“If he and former secretary Mike Pompeo are not tried for their crimes, the hand of revenge from the Muslim nation will fall on them,” he added. Raisi gave his speech at the largest prayer hall in Tehran, where participants held flags and portraits of the slain commander.
Rais called Soleiman a symbol of the Iranian revolution and an “example of bravery and reason.” Soleimani, a former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed along with Iraqi commander Mahdi al-Muhandis in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad on January 3, 2020.
Five days later, Iran fired dozens of missiles at a US base in Iraq.
