“China and Russia today represent the greatest threat to open society,” Soros said
Billionaire financier George Soros said today that Russia’s attack on Ukraine could be the start of World War III, so according to him “Vladimir Putin’s forces must be defeated so that the West can maintain a free civilization.”
Soros, more than 90 years old, became famous when he speculated and won against the British pound on the 1992 stock exchanges, describing the war in Ukraine as “part of a wider effort against societies like Russia and China that are empowered ”.
“The invasion may be the start of World War III and our civilization may not survive,” Soros told a Davos forum, according to a text released by his office.
“So perhaps the best way to save the West is to defeat Putin as soon as possible. “This is the essence,” added the former financial speculator, who has become an “exporter of democracy” in backward countries.

China has rejected the criticism, calling it “the outdated colonial mentality of the West” and defending itself by saying it has lifted more than 800 million people out of poverty.
Soros criticized President Xi Jinping’s ‘zero-COVID’ policies, saying they led Shanghai to “open rebellion.”
Along with COVID’s policies, Soros also predicted developments in China’s domestic politics, saying that Xi had made many mistakes that had cost him dearly within his influence within the party.
