Of course I am shocked by the SPAK request for my detention. I have the deep conviction that an unbiased and just process would easily prove my innocence; with the unwavering conviction that I have neither violated the laws of the country nor even broken the ethics of the duty I have exercised!
However, there is no reason for the Assembly of the Republic of Albania to engage in this issue, nor do I want to benefit or be offered a treatment different from any other citizen of our country.
I have not shielded the mandate of the deputy, but the truth about my innocence. I will prove this in court and before the public.
Therefore, the next day I decided to submit to the Speaker of the Assembly the submission of my mandate as a deputy of the Republic of Albania, and to face the accusation without any privilege. As an ordinary citizen, as a responsible parent and family member; and above all as a public servant, who undoubtedly understands that any commitment comes at the price of political mudslinging or even with the obligation to clarify the truth before justice!
