A young student has lost consciousness and died during the scene of Christ’s crucifixion on Good Friday at Easter.
But many in the audience believed it was part of the show when philosophy student Suel Ambrose suddenly fell to the ground.
25-year-old Suel was playing the role of St. Peter in the traditional Easter staging of the crucifixion of Christ at Clariantian University in Nigeria.
He fell to the ground during the biblical scene where he was supposed to cut off the ear of one of the soldiers who were trying to arrest Jesus.
The young man was taken to hospital but could not be saved.
A witness told of the university Vanguard“At first when it happened we thought it was part of dramatic acting. But when he could no longer get up we knew it was a serious matter. “He was later taken to hospital but his condition worsened and he could not survive.”
Officials have not yet given an explanation for the cause of the young man’s death.
Suel’s friends said he hoped to become a priest after graduation.
