Checks with radars and smart cars during this week found 421 cases when drivers were driving over the allowed speed. On Saturday evening, a driver was caught by the radar driving on the Tirana-Durres highway at a speed of 200 km per hour.
The numbers of people driving under the influence of alcohol remain high. In this week alone, 77 cases were found where 24 people were arrested because the level of alcohol in the blood was over 0.5g/l.
In Tirana during this week, 2 cases of drivers under the influence of narcotics measured by the aquilascan device were found and they were also arrested.
In total, throughout the country, during this week, the traffic police fined about 17,300 drivers, most of whom have made wrong overtakings that often lead to fatal consequences, such as the case of the accident in Berat, where due to an overtaking wrong, a 25-year-old mother lost her life together with her 6-year-old son after the car they were driving went off the road and into the Osum River.
