A police officer in Texas, USA was shot dead by a suspect who took his gun while fighting with him at a mall in Houston, where the victim was doing a second job.
Officer Neil Adams was killed yesterday afternoon when he responded to a riot at one of the PlazAmericas Mall stores, Houston police said.
“There was a scuffle with the suspect, who managed to take control of his gun,” said Houston Police Chief Troy Finner.
He added: “The suspect had a sharp tool aimed at the officers. “After the incident, he was shot by them and died in hospital.”
Police did not release the identity of the attacker but said he was 35 years old.
The slain officer served with the San Jacinto police since 2012.
Speaking outside the hospital where the officer lost his life, his widow asked for prayers from benefactors.
“I wanted us all to pray for the people and souls of those who protect us every day.”
