Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss has claimed he has been offered the opportunity to join a consortium of six or seven other investors to buy Chelsea for 2 2 billion.
The 86-year-old, with a fortune estimated at 4. 4.3 billion, has admitted he is interested in buying the club from Roman Abramovich, but only as part of a consortium.
Russian-Israeli billionaire Abramovich has publicly expressed a desire to retain ownership of Chelsea, but that could be almost impossible if the UK government imposes sanctions on the 55-year-old.
Wyss has admitted he will consider the details of any possible deal to buy Chelsea, with the asking price thought to go beyond 2 2 billion.
