An 80-year-old serial killer who has spent most of her life behind bars for the murder of two ex-girlfriends is on trial for the death of another woman, whose dismembered body was found last week in Brooklyn, New York.
Harvey Marcelinwho is identified as a “transgender woman” was charged last week after being seen on security cameras throwing human remains in the rubbish near her apartment.
A police search led to the discovery of a “human head” in Marcelin’s home, along with a chainsaw he had bought at the market.
The gruesome case came to light when the body of 68-year-old Susan Layden was found in an abandoned supermarket cart a few dozen meters from Marcelin’s apartment, police said.
A few days later Layden’s foot was discovered in an area further north, while one of her arms is still missing.
Authorities say another murder adds to Marcelin’s charges, which has a shocking criminal history.
The 80-year-old has spent about 50 years in prison for manslaughter and manslaughter since 1963, according to US prison records.
On April 18, 1963, she shot dead her ex-girlfriend Jacqueline Bond, at the house where they lived in Manhattan.

In the latest murder, victim Layden was seen on camera entering Marcelin’s apartment on February 27, and this was the last time he was seen alive, according to prosecutors.
Marcelin is already being held in Riker’s Island Jail and her trial begins tomorrow, but investigations into the case continue.
