The Albanian Red Cross is closely following the humanitarian situation created by the conflict in Ukraine, especially its tragic consequences on the civilian population.
In a public statement, International Committee of the Red Cross President Peter Maurer said that now that the conflict was escalating across Ukraine, he was “afraid of the escalating suffering of fighting that could lead to mass casualties and widespread destruction.” of civilian facilities such as water and electricity supply stations, mass displacement of people, trauma, family separation and missing persons… ”
As part of the largest humanitarian movement in the world, the Albanian Red Cross also shows solidarity with the selfless work of our colleagues from the Ukrainian Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In this context, the Albanian Red Cross launches a fundraising campaign in support of the Ukrainian Red Cross to help the civilian population affected by the conflict.
The Albanian Red Cross has mobilized all its human capacities in its 39 branches throughout the country to sensitize communities to donate monetary values in order that, no matter how little, Albania also contributes to alleviating the human suffering that comes from this bloody conflict. Proceeds from the campaign will be sent to the Ukrainian Red Cross to be used in carrying out its humanitarian operation.
On this occasion, the Albanian Red Cross invites the media to give its contribution to raising awareness for citizens to show their solidarity and join many, this initiative of the Albanian Red Cross.
