The internationals have not yet given the “ok” to the fiscal amnesty, but despite the opposition, the government is determined to push it forward.
The oath was made by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, among other things, harshly attacked the American Chamber of Commerce and the German Chamber that a few days ago criticized the initiative with the argument that it could bring a risk for money laundering.
“I have to tell all our friends. Mutual respect is the A of my work in the function of governance. with respect, any idea can be rejected, do you treat Albania as a country with a tail, while the amnesty is done in order, this is nothing right, nor the right thing, nor the thing that values the almost unconditional respect that Albania has towards its partners. To carry chambers of commerce with flags of partner countries and to make lightning sheets for this government initiative is just a lack of respect.”
The changes in the new draft law are insufficient for the European Commission, which again raises the alarm that the amnesty weakens controls against money laundering and could turn the country into a fiscal paradise. But the government guarantees the opposite.
But why is this full criminal and fiscal amnesty being done now?
Business representatives and other interest groups participating in the hearing were divided into two parts. The Turkish Chamber of Commerce also joined the skeptics.
