The Central Commission for granting the status of “Children in the Care of the Republic” is in operation from this Monday, paving the way for law enforcement to support the full package for children of “Homeland Martyrs”.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu in her speech said that this is another proof of the commitments of the Albanian government to make this year, the year of children.
“The granting of the status of Children in Care of the Republic will be implemented immediately after this first meeting. As we all know, it was a commitment of Prime Minister Rama himself to initiate this important law, which protects children without parental care, the children of those who have given their lives in the service of others, have sacrificed their lives for those who have been near and to save them. Such as police officers, doctors, nurses and all those who have received or received the status of “Martyr of the Fatherland”, but to date the benefits have been limited in terms of children“, Said Manastirliu.
Speaking about the benefits guaranteed by the new law, Manastirliu said: “This law guarantees a full package of benefits starting from the financial support with the salary of the parent who has lost his life in the line of duty, exactly benefiting him up to the age of 25 if he continues his high school education. It is a step forward in all of our policies to support children without parental care. The fact that we are here today and approve the whole package of instruments to make this law a reality as soon as possible, shows once again the commitment and implementation of those promises we have given”.
Manastirliu informed that on the website of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection will be announced the call for applications for all those who are beneficiaries of this law, emphasizing that the application will be open throughout the year.
“Immediately after this Commission on the website of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection will be published this notice for calls for applications for all those who are beneficiaries of this law, completing a set of documents but also facilitated by the Technical Secretariat to all those certificates or documents that we, state by state, can get by making the part of the application in this process of gaining the status easier. As we have decided the application will be open throughout the year. So we will expect throughout the year applications received from those who will benefit from this status, ie family members, family members of children, their guardians, the parent who is the guardian of the child but also institutions or non-profit organizations contributors who have the right with special power of attorney to apply children to this status benefit“, Announced Manastirliu.
The Central Commission is composed of representatives of several ministries and associations that protect the rights of children.
