The director of the Dibra post office, Ilir Vraniçi, and the head of the office, Xhevdet Doda, were arrested this Friday for abuse of office.
Prosecutor Xhoana Mehmetaj has also signed an arrest warrant for the post office employee Gazmir Hasi, who is accused of theft by abuse of office and falsification of documents.
According to the investigation, this person stole citizens’ pensions, about 6 million ALL (young people). Hasi was able to escape from the police, as he has not yet been arrested. His two bosses, the director of the post office and the head of the office, are accused of not spotting the theft, even though there are irregularities in the documentation completed by Has. According to the investigations, they were aware of the actions of their subordinate.
All irregularities, according to the investigative actions carried out, are suspected to have occurred in the period January-May of this year.
A month ago, the investigative show “Fiks Fare”, denounced the scandal with the pensions of dozens of residents of Peshkopia, who were wandering through the doors of state institutions.
The Post Office employee, Gazmir Hysi, who was supposed to distribute them, disappeared, along with a large sum of money. The newsroom of the show received information about this issue. Journalists talked to dozens of pensioners in Peshkopi and Kastriot Administrative Unit.
Part of the conversation of Fiks journalists with pensioners and employees of the Post Office in Peshkopi:
