The security measure against 20 persons arrested for abuse of duty, removal of security signs and smuggling of other goods in the port of Durrës appeared before the court this Tuesday.
The prosecution, represented by prosecutor Afrim Shehu, has requested the legal validation of the arrest and the imposition of an obligation to appear.
The crowd of arrestees and lawyers in the courtroom has made it impossible to respect standard protocols and position them in their respective places, inside a hall insufficient for security measures of this nature.
4 of the arrested are unrepresented by defense lawyers and the court mostly assigned them.
One of the lawyers asked the court to make the documents of the case available in order not to be involved in a routine session.
“The fact that the arrest was made at a time when the lawyers were on strike, the colleague’s request is right and we want to get to know the acts.”
The request for postponing the session found partial support among the defense lawyers, as the prosecution requested an “obligation to appear” for some of the arrested.

The judge of the session, Paulin Çera, decided to postpone the session for an hour to give the lawyers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the acts.
